Community Counseling Associate’s staff has served Columbia, Maryland since 1971 offering comprehensive evaluative and treatment interventions for those experiencing problems with various social, emotional, Psychological and sexual disorders. Under the direction of Dr. John R. May, CCA's services are based on practical, effective, short-term methods.

Treatment Plan
Following a thorough evaluation of the problem, a comprehensive treatment plan designed specifically for each individual is developed. Nevertheless, they all use a short-term, problem-focused treatment approach using integrated cognitive/behavioral methods. The goals of each treatment plan are to seek the reduction or elimination of anxiety and reduce pathological behavior.

Effective Treatment Techniques
A number of effective, goal-oriented treatment techniques are used to treat these disorders:

Most clients are given homework assignments using video and audio tapes and/or printed materials. Some may be taken out of the office for exposure therapy, some may be brief family therapy and some may need consultation with a physician for medication.
